RULES: The game will
use a traditional format in
which two players will play
single elimination, head-to-head
competition with a coin flip
determining the order of play.
Once a shot is made, the second
player will attempt the same
shot once. If that player
misses, he/she is assigned a
letter (ex. H for the first
miss, O for the second, etc.).
The player following a miss can
pick a new shot with which to
challenge his competitor. A
referee will be assigned to
authenticate the new shots (that
the player executed what he
announced) and any mimic shot.
There is no dunking allowed.
Players will have 30 seconds
each to create and mimic shots;
if unable to make the shot
within the time limit a letter
will be assessed to the player.
Players remain in the game until
they have missed five shots
following made baskets, thus
spelling the word H-O-R-S-E. No
shot may be utilized more than
once in a game once it has
successfully been executed. No
player is allowed to defend.
Winning competitors will advance
through the tournament brackets
game-by-game toward the final
game determining the winning
contestants. The first three
rounds of the brackets
(including any added play-in
games) will have a 20-minute
time limit with the competitor
with the fewest letters
advancing. Ties at the end of a
time limited game will be broken
by a Golden 3-point Shoot-Off
taken from the top of the arch.
The first successful shot in
rotation without a successful
follow-up by the opponent will
advance the winner. (Should the
first shooter miss and the
second shooter make the shot,
the second shooter will
advance.) The order of shooting
will follow the natural course
of the game at the end of the
time limit. The natural rotation
of shooting will be completed
prior to the Golden 3-point
Shoot-Off if time should expire
prior to completion of a
follow-up to a successfully made
game shot. The final rounds of
the bracket will be played out
to their natural completion with
one competitor receiving all
five letters of H-O-R-S-E before
the other. The winner advances
on in the brackets.
